Programme Overview

Under New Zealand employment legislation, it is essential to follow a formal and fair process when dismissing an employee for any reason. This programme offers 6 online modules that detail the legal and practical aspects concerning an employee's dismissal for specific reasons in the workplace.

The target audience for each module is predominantly employers of small to medium sized businesses. Other segments may include human resources practitioners and administration managers in medium sized organisations.

Each module is offered as a stand-alone, online course involving approximately three to six hours of unsupervised study.

The goal of the six modules in the suite of How to Dismiss Staff courses is to prepare an employer on the correct procedures for dismissing an employee for a variety of reasons, including:

The General Misconduct module forms part of the How to Dismiss Staff course. The goal of this module is to prepare an employer on the correct procedure for dismissing an employee for the reason of general misconduct.

The Illness & Injury module details the legal and practical aspects concerning an employee’s illness or injury in the workplace.
