The International Computer Driving Licence (ICDL) is the world's No.1 internationally
recognised qualification that enables people to demonstrate their competence in
basic computer skills. This qualification offers seven modules of computer competency
and is promoted in New Zealand by the New Zealand Computer Society.
The ICDL certification is ideal for anyone who wants an internationally recognised,
up-to-date qualification and proof of computer competency for existing and potential
employees.
To gain the ICDL certificate, students must sit an external online examination for
each of the seven modules. For information about the examination, fees and testing
centres visit www.icdl.gen.nz
Students can also apply for NZQA credits upon successful completion of individual
modules.
As specified by the ICDL Syllabus www.icdl.gen.nz the ICDL programme covers seven
modules:
- Basic Concepts of Information Technology
- Using the Computer and Managing files
- Word Processing
- Spreadsheets
- Database
- Presentation
- Information and Communication
To prepare students for the external examination, each online learning module has
a theory based practice test.
