Our History
Intuto was founded in 2000 by Auckland entrepreneurs Richard Warren and Dennis Murray.
From the start the intention has been to build a world-class business, using computer
technology and the internet to deliver consistently high-quality education to world-wide
online audiences, at a reasonable price. The company was originally known as Technocatz.
Follow our exciting journey from then to now....
2001
Our first venture is IT training, using online courses, administered through venues
with existing computer facilities such as schools and community centres. We have
entered the e-learning market!
2002
We look for a partner whose expertise in course creation will complement our strength
in material delivery. Using our own innovative software and in conjunction with
Wintec (Waikato Institute of Technology), the Wintec Certificate in Computer Applications
is created. Our vision of reaching wider audiences with education and training at
a superior level begins to be a reality.
2003
Consolidating the start we have made with our partner, Wintec, and expanding to
work with other Institutes of Technology and Polytechnics throughout New Zealand,
we continue to deliver education and training to students up and down the country.
We also merge with software development company WebSol, a company specialising in
education technology projects, and form KoComm, our technology development arm.
2004
Having developed a comprehensive in-house course-authoring and learning management
system, we become partners with Hewlett Packard and Microsoft in recognition of
our broad expertise.
2005
We expand our course offerings to include Farm Smart programmes (developed on behalf
of global dairy giant Fonterra) to help the rural community operate farm businesses
more efficiently and profitably, and to advance New Zealand’s agricultural industry.
Our international profile is raised by establishing an office in China and developing
a small market in the Middle East. We are also invited by New Zealand Trade and
Enterprise (NZTE) to become a Fast Forward 50 company in recognition of our proven
market success, clear sense of purpose and desire to grow.
2006
We are awarded a Technology for Business Growth (TBG) grant which we apply to the
re-development of our comprehensive in-house course-authoring and learning management
system. Australia is added to our list of international operations and we look at
expanding into Canada.
2007
Our Canadian office opens, supported by NZTE’s Beachheads programme. Ongoing offshore
market-development grants also support our expansion in China and the Middle East.
2008
Since 2001 we have delivered over 300,000 courses to more than 70,000 individuals
in New Zealand alone, and we have the most comprehensive range of English language
courseware on the market, comprising some 3000 online pages! Our commercial reach
is extended to include compliance and industry training in the FMCG market. We also
acquire agents in the UK and South America.
